Open source and free software licences (eg GPL - General Public Licence) have made fundamental changes in the development of our Information Technology infrastructure.

From Internet backbone software to Internet desktop software, like the high quality Mozilla Firefox web browser or Open Office, free software affects all computer users. The world community using Open Source software is enormous and growing.

Co-operative Development
The co-operative principles involved, in open source licences, have made waves in many areas of society including a strong corporate and government base.

Specialised Applications
Some of the highest quality applications are available, such as Blender, a 3D modelling/animation package with game logic built in. Research is underway by members of the LUG and information and [unofficial] training courses hope to delivered this year (post May).
