Be Waterwise

There are many simple ways to conserve water and still maintain your garden plants.

  • Mulching is important to protect plant roots and reduce moisture loss.
  • Water Crystals will hold water for later use by the plant- use these with new plants.
  • Saturaid or Wetta Soil Granules will allow water to penetrate the soil when it dries out allowing the plant to take advantage of any hand watering or natural rain.
  • When planting keep in mind the many dry tolerant plants available, including annuals such as Marigolds, salvias and Alyssum.
  • When water is very scarce water spikes can be pushed into the ground beside plants and filled with water to gradually soak into the rootzone.
  • When sprinklers are allowed, tap timers ensure water is not wasted.

If you have any great ideas please drop them into Kangarutha Nursery and we will share them with our readers.
