St John the Evangelist, Bega will be celebrating 150 years Anniversary of the first Anglican church on the present site from Monday 24th November to Sunday 7th December. Our programme has been proposed as follows with some events to be yet finalised:-
150th Celebration plan.
Monday 24th November to 7th December Memorabilia display in hall. Friday 28th November History of St John the Evangelist Book launch cocktail party with wine and cheese tasting. Saturday 29th November celebration dinner at the Bega Town Hall.
Sunday 30th November Celebration service followed by picnic lunch
Friday 5th December Renaissance concert by Heartsong
Saturday 6th December 5.00pm—9.00pm Children’s Bush dance
Sunday 7th December 2.00pm Ivan Allen organ recital on the historic Smith pipe organ, Bemboka organ and electric keyboard. To be confirmed
Guided tours of the church with a historic commentary. Dates and times to yet be confirmed
We intend to have a historical display in the Church Hall and would be interested to hear from anyone who may have been baptised, confirmed, been a member of the choir, married, celebrated a special occasion or been part of any group from the church. If you have photos, certificates, baptism gowns, wedding gowns etc you would be willing to loan we would love to hear from you.
During the celebration the new book of the parish history, commemorative wine glasses at $36 per half dozen or $6 each and the Anglican cookbooks will be on sale. These will also be available at anytime. So if you would like copies of the books or wish to purchase the glasses just phone or send an order.
