Job Placement Employment Training is for young people 15-21 years old who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Auswide Projects has been providing assistance and training to the community since 1989.

  • Personal: someone to talk to about anything that concerns you.
  • Information and Support: on issues that effect young people such as drugs and alcohol, sexuality, health or anything else that concerns you.
  • Outreach: workers can meet with you in a place that is easy for you to get to.
  • Programs and Projects: personal development, health education, peer support and community development.
  • Referral: if we can't help you or want to go somewhere else, we will put in touch with other services and workers that best meet your needs.
  • Advocacy: we can go with you to an appointment and help with filling out forms and understanding your rights.
  • Free Service: for eligable students and job seekers aged  15 - 21 years.

JPET'S AIM

JPET'S aims to provide an accessible and appropriate youth service to our clients which:

  • assist young people to make healthy lifestyle choices
  • through a coordinated approach assists young people to identify and address their needs
  • enables young people to actively participate in their local community
  • promotes a positive view of young people to the community

SUPPORT SERVICES

Aims

  • Direct accomodation support to young people.
  • Aid the provision of safe and appropriate housing for young people in the local region
  • Support residents to develop appropriate living skills through domestic, financial and personal assistance
  • Referral to appropriate services
  • Advocacy
  • Assistance and support with education, training and accessing employment opportunities
  • Working collaboratively with the community and other agencies to offer the best possible service to our young poeple

TARGET GROUP

  • Young people aged 16-22 years
  • Applicants who are able to show that with support they are able to develop independant living skills
  • Young people with a genuine desire to achieve a substainable tenancy in supported accomadation which will enable them to move into other suitable housing opportunities

 

 

ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE

  • Referral to the Youth Accomodation Support Service from an appropriate agency
  • Minimum of a four week registration time with the referring agency
  • Completion of application form
  • Assessment of applicant ability to meet program criteria by advocate
  • Application to selection panel for decision

 

Lifeskills

Lifeskills will look at the issues / skills that are requires by an individual to sustain independant living within a community.

The program is individually based on the needs of the client and strives to allow for an individualistic approach to learning.

The program helps Aboriginal people to find work or improve thieir current job situation.

Programs are staffed by Aboriginal people who are in touch with the needs of Aboriginal communities and have good contacts with employers, business groups and training providers within the local area.

Your local NCAP officer can help you plan your future career by looking at what you like to do and trying to find job that suits you.

The NCAP program is funded by the Department of Education and Training and is a free service to you.

  • Personalised job search service
  • Resume, job application and interview preparation
  • Career planning
  • Quality employment contacts
  • Job placement monitoring
  • Support and advice

NCAP assist employers with;

  • NCAP officers can refer appropriately qualified Aboriginal jobseekers to fill vacancies.
  • NCAP officers can provide employers with knowledgeable links to local communities and orgaisations, as well as access to training services at the NSW Department of Education and Training.
  • NCAP officers monitor job placements to ensure that both you and your employee are happy with the outcome.
