I have been blessed by The Great Spirit by being invited (from family ties) to join as a member of The Cherokee.
I have joined under the -
***South Eastern Cherokee Council Inc.***
I have joined as part of the Uwharrie Band and have been bestowed ceremonial duties as follows:
1: FIREKEEPER
It is my duty to light the fire for any function of the band; which only the male is assigned to do. What is burnt is Sage, Tobacco, Cedar, and Sweet Grass.
2: BAND MARSHAL
My duty is the guarantee safety of the people attending band/tribal functions. In this particular band I would oversee that the Chief is safe from harm.
May the warm winds of Heaven blow softly on your home, and the Great Spirit, bless all who enter there. May your moccasins make happy tracks in many snows, and may the rainbow always touch your shoulder.
An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life.
"A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.
"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil -
he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego."
"The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith."
"This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every otherperson, too."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather which wolf would win.
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
