Talking to the Whole Wide World:
Integrated LOTE and Intercultural Studies for Australian Primary Schools
This resource enables generalist primary teachers to teach their students a working LOTE without prior training.
"Talking to the Whole Wide World" contains 40 essential lessons in grammar and basic linguistics, combined with language learning skills such as word-building and analysis, idiom recognition and dictionary skills . There is also a wealth of practice play and creative application activities and weekly intercultural foci, which encourage awareness of global unity and diversity.
These activities include 22 songs with mp3s, 40 jokes and 70 games, with variations to reinforce learning throughout the course. Orientation information and activities for parents and students facilitate the early understanding and acceptance of the program. Support is provided for establishing real communicative relationships with non-English speaking children early and successfully.
Supplementary bright and useful posters are available, and access is provided to the full 77 minutes of the animated video " Mazi en Gondolando" , and many other valuable interactive and digital AV sources.
Talking to the Whole Wide World" provides a vocabulary of well over 1000 words, through mastery of a much smaller number of word-parts.
Appealing graphics feature a "small world" mascot who reads, writes, plays and sings as a visual reminder that Esperanto is a language for the whole world.
"Talking to the Whole Wide World" will be commercially available in Spring 2009. The final draft is available free of charge to eligible pilot schools for a limited time only. Please contact us for details.
