ArtBeat Neighborhood Outreach

Goes to Bermagui

The ArtBeat Neighborhood Outreach Project was held in Dickinson Park Lamont St Bermagui on Wednesday 15th July 2009 from 12-3pm as a part of the School holidays and was organised by the Women’s Resource Centre Bega.

The weather forecast for the day sounded awful – rain, sleet, hail and storms! But luckily for us we enjoyed a sunny but cool day at Bermagui with about 60 people coming out to enjoy the activities.

The kite making with Dianne De Paoli was very popular, easy and fun and kids got the kites up, up and away!

The face painters Kate Moorhead and Alice Lafferty didn’t stop all day – there were lots of great faces - tigers, sea creatures, butterflies and war paint on a group of teenagers.

Special thanks to the Bermagui Art & Craft Group for teaching children and parents how to knit. I think the children and parents enjoyed the knitting lessons and especially being able to take home supplies of wool and needles - an inspiration to keep knitting!

Gabrielle had kids mono printing – an easy way to print for young and old and the cards they made were fantastic. Wendy Hunter and Danni Holdsworth sang out some great songs and kept us grooving to the beat. The BBQ was organised by Dianne Smithett.

Special thanks to Staying Home Leaving Violence Caroline Long, Jill Coleman Regional Tenants Resource Centre and Brighter Futures Kathryn Ubrihien for attending on the day.
