Sliding at the Hollow

The Sapphire Coast Kart Club held their first race meet of the season on Sunday the 10th of Feb.

Competitor's have not raced since the end of November, so everyone was ready and willing to give it all they could to win the day.

The Rookies the wet track first. Dylan Peters and Jack Loftus showed the older generation how to race in the wet. The track was slippery, but this did not seem to slow these two young boys down. It came down the final race to decide the winner. In the end it was Dylan winning it over Jack.

With the largest field of the day was the TAG 125 Medium. This field was made up of father's and Son's. Following the Rookies was no easy task, so the TAG 125 put on a good show. In the end it was Mathew Nipperess from Canberra winning it from new comer to the class Ryan Campbell Beating Tom Nipperess from Canberra in 3rd.

Even though there were only two competitor's the Junior National Light was still a sight to see. With Local boy Adam Braunack going up against young Canberra boy Angus Pulford. With the track wet from all day rain, the boys showed that no matter what the conditions are you can still be fast a furious. In the end it was Canberra boy Angus winning it from local boy Adam in 2nd.

The last race of the was Sportsman Light, Sportsman Heavy and Senior National Lights. With only two competitor's in each Class, they ended up running behind each other.

With a father and daughter in the Sportsman Light this made for an interesting race. With the very first race in the rain neither competitor finished the first race. In the end it came down to the final race to decide the winner. In the end it was new comer to the class Kelly Simpson Winning it from Dad Trevor Simpson.

The Sportsman Heavy ran behind the lights. The heavy's had the same problem in race one, neither finished the race. The day ended early for new comer Jonathon Hagger who ended up not  having brakes. In the end it was 2009 champion Ian Crawford winning it from Jonathon.

Running behind the lights and heavy's was the senior National Lights. With an action packed day the senior nationals were the only 2 competitor's were the only two that finished the first race. In the end it was a very excited Samantha Simpson winning her first round win from Gavin Owens.

Even though it rained all day the competitor's had a great day. The club would like to thank all the official's and people that helped out. The next Sapphire Coast Kart Club will be holding their second race meet on the 21st march. See you there.

Serious concerns have been raised about the number of people entering restricted areas without the proper authorisation.

Please note that PIT PASSES are mandatory for entry into the ingrid, outgrid, scrutineers shed and engine bay areas. These should be on display at all times.

Holders of current race licences are allocated pit passes but all other team members, pit crew etc MUST have a pit pass to enter these areas.

If you or a member of your team does not have a current pit pass and wishes to have access to these areas then you will be required to consult with Officials at the office.

This rule will be enforced and your co-operation is sought in ensuring that safety is paramount.
